Using the 1000 Books App

As a registered member of 1000 Books Before Kindergarten at Bellevue Public Library, you have two options for noting the progress you and your child(ren) make toward reading 1000 books.

You can use the trifold reading sheet you were given at registration or you can download the free 1000 Books Before Kindergarten app.

If you use the trifold reading sheet we only ask that you count the number of books read.

If you decide to use the 1000 Books App, you will actually be recording the titles of the books you read.  You can search for a book by entering the title or author, or by using the barcode scanner that is included in the app.  When you and your child return to the library to receive prizes for each 100 books completed, just show us your progress on the app!  One advantage of using the barcode scanner: you'll have a running list of the books you have read, making it easier to go back and visit old favorites, as well as helping you when your child says, "Can we read that book again?  The one with the blue and yellow things on the front... with the animals?!"

To use the barcode scanner

1) Click on Search for a Book

2) Click on Add New Book

3) Click on Scan a Book

Remember to scan the barcode usually found on the  back cover.  This is the ISBN (International Standard Book Number).  Scanning the Bellevue Library barcode on the front cover will not work.

As always, feel free to contact the Children's Department staff if you have any questions about the 1000 Books program.

You will find instructions for using the app here.
